仏像製作技術の現代生活への応用にチャレンジする仏師

Translating the art of Buddha sculptures into today’s modern context

仏師三浦耀山氏が主宰する仏像彫刻所。木彫の仏像の製作過程（素材となる材木の説明、仏像の伝統的彫刻技法の説明）や古い仏像の修復作業の見学が可能。また伝統的な仏像彫刻の技術に現代技術を取り入れたドローン仏の実演あり。ガチャ仏さま（仏像ガチャガチャ）も設置している。

また期間中、東日本大震災で津波の被害にあった岩手県大槌町江岸寺に奉納する本尊釈迦如来像を特別展示している。

 

A Buddhist statue sculpture studio run by Buddhist sculptor, Yozan Miura. Visitors can observe the process of making wooden Buddhist statues (with an explanation of the wood used as materials and traditional Buddhist statue carving techniques) and the restoration of old statues. There is also a demonstration of a drone Buddha, which incorporates modern technology into traditional Buddhist statue carving techniques. Gachabutsu-sama (Buddha statue gacha-gacha toys) will also be on display. During the event period, there is also a special display of the main statue of Shakyamuni Buddha dedicated to Eganji Temple in Otsuchi Town, Iwate Prefecture, which was damaged by the tsunami in the Great East Japan Earthquake.
