手織りから機械織りまで、「織り」を楽しむ
All about woven textiles from hand-weaving to machine-weaving
178年の歴史を持つファブリックメーカー。帯や緞帳などの美術工芸織物からカーテン等のインテリア製品まで幅広く生産。世界最大級の大機を用いた緞帳製作や、絹糸をひと越ひと越丁寧に織り上げる帯製作の様子、また国内最古の企業博物館・川島織物文化館、染織の学校・川島テキスタイルスクールなどをご覧いただけます。
Kawashima Selkon Textiles is a fabric manufacturer with a history of 177 years. The company produces a wide range of products, from art and craft fabrics such as obi sashes and rugs to interior products such as big stage curtains. Visitors can see the production of rugs using one of the world’s largest machines and the production of obi sashes where silk threads are carefully woven one by one. The Kawashima Textile Culture Museum, the oldest corporate museum in Japan, and the Kawashima Textile School, a school for dyeing and weaving, will also be open.
