Flexible idea meets skilled artisan’s techniques
掛け軸や屏風などの道具の制作や文化的価値の高い美術品の修復、寺院の天井や壁の表装など、日本の「紙」にまつわるあらゆることを手掛ける表具屋。明治16年（1883年）創業、特徴的な金箔を用いた表装技術を核に現在6代目に受け継がれる橋本光厳堂では、国家資格として公認された本物の技をもつ職人が、伝統を継承しつつ、自由闊達な工房の雰囲気の中、オーダーに応じて現代の生活で身近に感じられる新しいアイテムも創出している。
Hashimoto Kogando is engaged in manufacturing and repairing Hyogu (Japanese traditional interior furniture). Established in 1883 and succeeded to their 6th generation today, they have been working with their principal techniques of gold leafed decoration. The studio’s liberal atmosphere drives the artisans to create new items that can fit today’s lifestyle on request along with carrying on the tradition.
