古来より織物産地・西陣の中心地において、着物の帯を始めとする高級織物の繊細かつ美しい色彩表現を、絹や木綿の糸で寸分の違いなく染め上げる技によって支えている。天然染料、化学染料の双方を注文によって使い分け、複数の染料を掛け合わせて、丁寧に染め上げていくプロセスを見ることができる。※作業中は熱湯や火を使用するため、見学時にはご注意ください。
In the center of Nishijin, a long-honored textile weaving district of Kyoto, Kouwa Dyeing Factory has continued to fascinate people with their sophisticated and elaborate silk and cotton dyed fabrics. Only the highly-skilled craftspeople can achieve such an accurate work combining natural dye and chemical dye skillfully depending on the order. *Please be careful when visiting the studio as they use boiling water and fire in the process.
