DESIGN WEEK KYOTO 2024

Evolving
“MADE IN KYOTO”

Elevating
Japanese Manufacturing
from Kyoto

Kyoto has eagerly absorbed the sensibilities and technologies of the times from all over Japan and the world. Users and creators with their unique aesthetic sense and sensibilities, as well as a spirit of mutual encouragement, have come together to produce fascinating things and experiences.

In the coming age, while inheriting the attitude of our predecessors, the time has come to re-examine the meaning of "MADE IN KYOTO." We aim to pave the way for the next era and create values necessary for the present and future world, all while keeping the wisdom of our predecessors fresh.

DESIGN WEEK KYOTO is moving from the stage of opening "MADE IN KYOTO" sites and promoting exchange to the next stage of challenge: innovating the meaning of "MADE IN KYOTO."

PROGRAM

MADE IN KYOTO TOURS

DESIGN WEEK KYOTO has been held since 2016 as a pioneer in Japan of "open sites" that open various manufacturing sites and promote exchange. The goal is to realize a "place of exchange full of diversity" in Kyoto, setting a standard in creative cities around the world.
During the event, tours will be held at manufacturing sites around Kyoto Prefecture, where you can learn about manufacturing and interact with the people involved. These tours are not limited to simple site visits but offer deeper exchanges. You will explore the climate and culture behind local manufacturing with a coordinator and engage in discussions.
